Foundations of Instructional Design

The 8-week online Foundations of Instructional Design course consists of 40 contact hours of instruction. Participants acquire the following key competencies during this 8-week course: • Understanding and application of standard development models for instructional design. • Understanding and application of major learning theory principles applicable to instructional design. • Understanding and application of graphic and multimedia design principles for learning design. • Understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning principles to support accessibility and equity in course design. • Practice and produce learning content using authoring tools for instructional design projects. To earn the Foundations of Instructional Design digital badge, each participant must: • Complete three design activities that demonstrate the effective application of instructional design best practices. • Complete each program module with a passing grade and earn a “C” or above as the course grade. This course is one of three courses that comprise the Instructional Design Certificate.
